“CALLING ALL PERFORMERS: TEXAS BURLESQUE FESTIVAL NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR ITS 2010 SHOWCASE”

Austin, TX. January 3rd 2010 – Texas Burlesque Festival is now accepting performer applications for its third annual raucous three-day hoedown & howdown celebrating the revival of all things Cabaret to be held in Downtown Austin April 22nd, 23rd and 24th 2010.

The festival is aimed at, but not limited to, the fast growing American community of ecdysiasts. This will be a great opportunity for a select number of performers to showcase their bump and grind skills, including brunches, round table discussions, competitions and “best of the best” performances.

The festival coordinators have added an additional day to the festival this year and would like to open up the application process to include new performers and troupes that are looking to break into the national scene but do not have the necessary experience or background. “We would not only like to showcase the best in the nation, but also nurture new acts and tomorrows starlet’s by adding a special ‘Nouveau Nuit’ and workshops aimed at helping performers with booking, publicity and business plans” says Roz, festival co-producer.

To turn up the heat even more, the 2010 Texas Burlesque Festival is proud to be featured in a national documentary about the American Burlesque Revival, now filming in several cities across the country. The film crews will be shooting throughout the festival including interviews with both the performers and the event patrons. Because of this, TXBF 2010 will be held at 501 Studios production facility instead of a nightclub or other venue to accommodate the additional production needs fitting a major motion picture.

* Applications can be filled out online at www.texasburlesquefest.com with a $25 application fee. (+$3 online processing fees). Submission deadline is March 1st, 2010 with late registration until March 15th.

In its inaugural year the Texas Burlesque Fest was an unprecedented success, busting at the seams with hot Burlesque, Vaudeville and Cabaret action from all over the great state of Texas and playing to sold out audiences each evening. Our 2nd year grew in both capacity and quality, showcasing a larger national array of the top professional performers. In our 3rd year we are proudly going 3 days strong, hosting international performers, special surprise guests and a national film crew making the Texas Burlesque Festival a major player in the national festival circuit.
